Prior to founding Champlain
Capital Partners, Mr. Leary was a co-founding partner
of Green Mountain Partners which consisted of a $162
million first fund followed by a second $270 million
fund. Prior to Green Mountain Partners, Mr. Leary in
1993 joined CIGNA Investment Management’s Mezzanine
Investment Group which was a three person team dedicated
to investing CIGNA Mezzanine Partners III, LP a $450
million fund, and managing and exiting the portfolios
of the prior two CIGNA mezzanine funds. Prior to CIGNA,
Mr. Leary worked for Marine Midland Bank in the Corporate
Commercial Lending Group. As part of his investing activity
Mr. Leary has been a board representative at ten companies.
Mr. Leary received a B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute and an M.B.A. from the Johnson Graduate School
of Management at Cornell University and is a Chartered
Financial Analyst.
